
My husband’s birthday called for something extra-special! He’s a meat and potatoes guy, but not any recipe would do for his big day, so I decided to try Martha Stewart Living’s Steak au Poivre. And, it’s delicious. I am a big-flavor kinda gal, so the intense salt and pepper seasoning, a strong sear, and the cognac sauce–all a dream that I didn’t want to end! Details below!

How to make it an A+: Amazinggggg. I gave it a ding because it definitely does not serve two! Not two hungry adults, anyway. I made the sauce according to recipe specifications, but doubled up on the steak, oil, and pepper, and it was perfect!! Just delish.
