I am a fan of almond anything, really, but mixed with sugar in a candy form might just be my favorite. If you, too, are a marzipan fan, try this basic brownie upgrade! This Mom Uptown Original Recipe for Marzipan Brownies is an ooey-gooey family hit! Details below.
Recipe:
Makes 9 Brownies
Active Time: 20 minutes
Total Time, Including Baking and Cooling: 2 hours
Ingredients-
- 1 stick Salted Butter, cut into cubes
- 2 oz Unsweetened Chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
- 7 oz tube of Marzipan, chopped into 1/2″ cubes
Method-
Preheat oven to 350° F. Line an 9″ square baking dish with two pieces of parchment so there is an overhang on each side and the brownies can be easy lifted out once baked. (If you do not have parchment, generously coat the pan with butter.)
Combine butter and unsweetened chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 15 second increments, stirring in between, until melted. Transfer to a large bowl and let cool slightly.
Add sugar, eggs, flour, vanilla, and salt to the bowl and mix well with a whisk. Fold in the chocolate chips and marzipan cubes. Transfer to the prepared dish.
Bake about 45 minutes, until brownies are set and top has a nice crust. Remove from oven and allow to cool at least a half hour before removing from pan, cutting, and serving. Enjoy!
