Cardamom Apple Crumble

October 24, 2023

Who has a ton of apples on their hands? After our trip to the orchard, I wanted to make something that used up a lot of them, was very easy, and tasted amazing! And, here it is! This Cardamom Apple Crumble makes for a wonderful dessert, but an even better cheeky breakfast when topped with some Greek yogurt. Enjoy!

Serves: 6

Active Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 20 minutes

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed
  • 3/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 Stick of Salted Butter, softened

  • 7 Apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 3/4 Cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom
  • 2 Tbsp Salted Butter

Preheat oven to 375°.

Mix together topping ingredients until crumbly. Set aside.

Toss apples with sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and cardamom. Pour apples and all they syrupy, spiced goodness into an 8×8 baking dish. Cut the butter into small pieces and scatter overtop. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven, remove foil, and add topping evenly over the apples. Bake until bubbling and topping is golden, 25-30 minutes more.

Let cool slightly. Serve hot or at room temperature with ice cream or whipped cream. Serve cold the next morning with Greek yogurt!
